Camphor for protecting dried insect collections

  • R. B. Jordan

Abstract

Camphor, a recognised product for the protection of dried insect collections, can no longer be sold across the counter in New Zealand. This creates a significant supply problem for amateur (and other) entomologists in this country, impacting on everybody trying to provide deterrents for insect pests that might damage insect collections. However the product is not banned in New Zealand per se and can be readily imported legally and safely from Australian online suppliers at low cost.
